This craft analysis will provide an overview of story structure.
Story structure is the backbone of the story. If you strip away the characters, the dialogue, and all the dressing, what you have left is structure. Story structure consists of scope, scenes, summaries, and, of course, plot. That’s a lot to cover in one overview, so this analysis will briefly introduce each of these topics and explain how to use them within the framework of a story.
This will be the first of many craft analyses. Craft is essentially the art or, if you prefer, the science of creative writing. Every writer, whether or not she is aware of it, uses the principles of craft to create story.
We shall begin with the most basic question any writer can pose. What is a story?
If someone in a writing workshop tells you he knows exactly what you need to do in order to create a masterpiece, you should find a new seat. While some people are naturally talented at writing, churning out classic after classic, very few people, if any at all, can tell you how to craft a masterpiece.
First let me define what I mean by story development.
Story development is not editing. Story development can occur outside of the frame of delivery. In other words, it does not depend on the form of transmission.
Should we expect them as readers? Should we write them as authors? How do we resolve a story without falling back on the old Disney cliché?
Disney movies such as Sleeping Beauty, Beauty and the Beast, and Cinderella all make use of the trope known as the story-tale happy ending. While happy endings can be as diverse as any plot mechanism, Disney classics tend to fall into a standard model
