Bittersweet
- From the outside looking in
- Everything’s a glowing dream
- Things are not always as they seem
- But from the inside looking out
- Is where the truth finally comes about
- And rears its ugly head.
- There is no certain beauty in truth.
- Love is Bittersweet
- Even love is not a triumph
- But a broken down horn
- That plays out of tune
- Like a voice weeping
- Bitterly in the morning
- After a wedding.
- Tears do not go with weddings.
- There should be room
- only for laughter
- And deepest joy
- Love is Bittersweet
- There is always something
- to ruin the apple’s sweetness
- There is always a poison after the joy
- Always a worm hidden in the leaves
- Sickening every pleasure
- With a bitter laugh
- Saying it won’t last
- And it stings,
- because it’s the truth.
- Love is Bittersweet
- I think I will always find
- That I am not enough
- To fill anyone,
- There is not enough of me
- to fill the void
- I can only go so far.
- Even though every day
- I die a little more
- Because I am drinking poison
- As if it were a sweet wine.
- And I can bind your wounds
- But I cannot bear all the pain.
- Bittersweet, like the berries on the bush
- Sweet, but reeks of venom
- Dripping sweetly down like nectar.
- Love is Bittersweet.
- Even though you give me
- Your pain like a gift
- And I keep it, close,
- and let it gnaw my heart
- The darkness is too dark
- for me to light alone.
- I struggle to keep my thoughts from
- Harrowing hope, and eating dawn.
- Oh, My God, what endless anguish!
- My road is dark;
- the sun comes out but seldom
- to what light shall I turn?
- Will the story end in peace?
- I believe in happy endings
- But life is not a fairy tale
- Love is Bittersweet
